Dubai, UAE – Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa, today celebrated the grand opening of City Centre Al Shindagha under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and in the presence of His Excellency Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality.

Delivering a contemporary retail and entertainment experience in one of the UAE’s most historic neighborhoods, City Centre Al Shindagha is Majid Al Futtaim’s 7th City Centre mall in the UAE, and the 13th in the wider Middle East region.

City Centre Al Shindagha caters to the needs of residents, tourists and professionals working in the area by offering a comprehensive mix of 75 retail outlets including Carrefour, Splash, Babyshop, Max Fashion, and Sharaf DG.  Entertainment options include Magic Planet for a rewarding family adventure, as well as a seven-screen cinema multiplex, VOX Cinemas. The mall boasts a variety of international dining options including ten fast food restaurants and four cafes.

The new mall opening marks an important moment for Majid Al Futtaim as it continues to fulfil its position as the leader in delivering world-class retail and entertainment destinations which are tailored to the needs of specific markets and communities.

“With its proximity to Dubai Creek and the area’s tradition as a trading hub, Shindagha is an ideal location for Majid Al Futtaim to open its 7th City Centre in the UAE and continue its vision of offering contemporary malls to communities living and working in the surrounding areas while creating great moments for everyone, everyday. City Centre Al Shindagha offers a convenient and accessible retail experience which meets the growing demand for smaller lifestyle malls in Dubai that provide a tailor-made mix of retail options, international dining outlets and premium family entertainment,” said Hamad Al Lawati, Manager - Community Malls for Majid Al Futtaim Properties.

City Centre Al Shindagha builds on the success of an existing Carrefour hypermarket, open since September 2002 and among the first 5 Carrefours operating in the Emirates.  The mall offers a carefully considered mix of shops and services to meet the daily and weekly shopping needs of nearby residential communities, as well as tourists visiting the historic Dubai Creek and heritage sites, and professionals employed in the area.

City Centre Al Shindagha comprises of 24,500 square metres of Gross Leasable Area and is spread over a 2-level mall featuring contemporary world-class design, sustainability measures, accessibility and premium finish.

Following the opening of City Centre Me’aisem in September 2015 and the successful delivery of Mall of the Emirates’ Evolution 2015 expansion initiative, City Centre Al Shindagha is Majid Al Futtaim’s third major project to launch in the UAE within the past six months. The company’s continued investment demonstrates its aim to provide higher quality retail destinations that serve the needs of residents and tourists, create employment opportunities, and demonstrate the long-term viability of the Middle East’s retail sector.

“2015 was a milestone year for Majid Al Futtaim Properties as we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the City Centre brand, as well as 10 years of success for Mall of the Emirates – as we enter 2016, the launch of City Centre Al Shindagha underscores the company’s commitment to further innovate and invest for the benefit of the communities we serve,” continued Al Lawati.  “With City Centre Al Shindagha, Majid Al Futtaim is merging a traditional area with contemporary best practices in shopping malls, for a sustainable and convenient solution to this neighborhood’s retail and entertainment needs. This was made possible through the support of the Dubai government and Dubai Municipality.”
