16 Dec 2012

Majid Al Futtaim Ventures commits to the well-being and long-term support of the shelter.

A group of children and women from the Dubai Foundation for Women & Children (DFWAC) were all smiles this weekend, as they were treated to a morning of fun, games and rides at Magic Planet, Mirdif City Centre. Their host was Majid Al Futtaim Ventures, who has made a long-term commitment to supporting the financial sustainability of the shelter and also the well-being of the women and children, who have been victims of abuse and violence.

“It was a delight to be able to give the children and women of the Dubai Foundation For Women & Children a day of relaxing fun,” said Sabra Thani, Director of Communications for Majid Al Futtaim Ventures. “Our focus for the new year will be to build our relationship with the DFWAC and explore meaningful ways to enhance the lives of its members, and also provides opportunities for our resources to engage with the community and to truly live out our corporate mission to “Care Always”.

“We’re thankful to Majid Al Futtaim Ventures for giving our guests the opportunity to have a stress-free day of fun and laughter,” Fatma Hassan, Director of the Communication Department for Dubai Foundation for Women & Children. “It’s important for us to be able to continually bring pleasant and safe experiences for our women and children, making them feel safe in the community while under the watchful care of our professionals. Together, we hope we can raise awareness of the Dubai Foundation for Women & Children and enhance the well-being of our people.”

This is an example of one of many passionate activities Majid Al Futtaim Ventures aims to organise for the shelter in the New Year. Recently, the Group donated 41,000AED to the DFWAC in celebration of 41st UAE National Day.

The Dubai Foundation for Women & Children is the first licensed non-profit shelter in the UAE for women and children victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and human trafficking. It was established in July 2007 to offer victims immediate protection and support services in accordance with international human rights obligations. In 2012, it has received and treated up to 140 women and children to-date.
